Ice Conditions and Nite Nationals Information

Ice Conditions
I ran into Donny Anderson last night at a party.  He told me that a handful or Renegades and some DN's raced at the west end of Mendota.  Light air and about 1 inch of fluffy snow over 5 inches of perfect ice.  At the same party, Grant Frautschi told me that there's a patch of open water along the southeast shore of Mendota.  Lake Monona is not safe.  Kegonsa was checked but Mendota had a better landing.  More at iceboat.org   If you've got ice (or not), let me know and I'll pass that along to the group.

Annual Regatta Stuff
Our annual regatta is technically called for this upcoming weekend, Jan 18 and 19.  The NOR was included with the newsletter mailed last month.  By the way, have you paid your dues yet?   As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I will be leaving town for a week's vacation on Wednesday, Jan 16.  I'll be unable to participate in the regatta, nor do much of anything about finding a site, rounding up trophies or race committee if it's called on for the weekend of Jan 18, 19 or 26,27.  After that, I'll be here for the balance of the season.   Our fine organization is still without a Vice Commodore or Regatta Chair.  I know that there's someone out there who'd like to help, but to date, no one has stepped up.  Could you?   If you would like to do either or both of these jobs, I'd be thrilled and everyone else will be relieved.  Please drop me a line before Tuesday.  I can send you a copy of the mailing list and associated important phone numbers.
