Bits and Pieces
Well, I wish that I was writing to tell you that
we've found the huge sheet of perfect black ice, with a bar near the launch ramp
that serves the best burgers in five states,,
OK, so the news is far more mundane than that.
1. Have you visited the Association's website
at it's new location? Fred has added a few photos but there's always room for
more. Send them along to me and I'll forward to Fred. http://www.internationalniteclass.org/index.htm
2. Occasionally I discover posts on club websites
with articles on Nite tuning tips and photos. All good stuff that we'd post on
our class site if you'll send it along or provide a link.
3. Have you paid your dues?
If not, don't feel bad. Despite my automatic bill paying
reminders in Quicken and the occasional message that I send along, I just
discovered that I haven't paid this season's dues. just $10.00. I'll attach a
membership form.
4. Revisions to the INCA By-Laws and Constitution:
This is a project that Mark Wilfert and I have been
working on. Scott Brown stepped up to lend another set of eyes to the process
yesterday, so It's just about done. 95% of this is the correction of grammar
and typos. The other 5% is some new language that clarifies regatta procedures.
5. Strictly Sail in Chicago next weekend. Strictly
Sail starts on Thursday the 29th at Navy Pier in
Chicago. Bill Mattison, Buddy Melges and Peter Harken, the Legends of
Iceboating, will be presenting a talk on Saturday, January 31, at 10:00. In
addition, a huge display of iceboats at Harken’s Need For Speed display will
showcase iceboats from Ice Optis up to the mighty stern steerer, The Deuce.
There'll be a Nite and Renegade and Skeeter there too. The booth will also
feature some of the DVD's that 4LIYC has produced over the years with classic
footage of big boats and Skeeters. Watch closely and you'll get to see the
"Ferdinand Spin..." I'll be at the show on Thursday volunteering a from time to
time at the booth when I'm not browsing or eating those cinnamon coated pecans.
See more about this event at http://www.iceboat.org/
6. Runner Plank Bags:
I acquired two very nice plank bags, one will fit a Skeeter Plank and is brand
new. The other is for a Nite. Used but not abused. If you're interested, drop
me a line.
See ya on the ice.
