Nite News 2/07/02 Nite Sailing
- Pewaukee The Nationals have been rescheduled for February 16-17. All lakes that are frozen have at least 3" of hard, crusty snow on top of the ice. Temperatures have warmed this week with some melting and softening of the snow. It would not take much more to make sailing possible and the weather is predicting potential rain showers this coming weekend. Should conditions change, PIYC club racing will be called on. Minnesota Scott Brown and Tom Nordlie, both from Upper Minnetonka, are the proud owners of two new Nites. Last week, they traveled down to S&R and took delivery. I saw both boats this weekend and they are truly beautiful. Nordlie claims he now has the fastest boat on Tonka since his has already been clock at over 75mph. I explained that being tied to the top of a suburban does not count and that speed is typically clocked while the boats are "on the ice". Still, it is great to see his enthusiasm and we look forward to having both boats join us on the race course. Still no boatable ice in the twin cities. All we need is a brief warm spell and things could change quickly. Keep us informed on the Nationals. Known Ice Conditions Green Bay (Menomonee, MI): Frozen. Snow covered.
