2002 Nites on Lake Minnetonka
By Peter Slocum - Nite #547

Pictures were taken New Year's Day when we still had good ice. 535 is Bloom, 396 is Bob Sevey and 547 is me. Sorry there are no action shots. I was taking the pictures and of course spent the rest of the time sailing. We had good ice until about the middle of January and had informal racing setup at the Excelsior side of the lake. Main lake was blocked until the last weekend and a ridge made it too small for a Nationals course.

We are packed snow cover right now with only 3-4 inches. It could melt down with a warm spell later this month and I think that would take care of the main lake seam which was not major. Best launching point is Wayzata public beach. There is ten inches of ice (we normally would have at least two or three feet by now) which will make the spring season short.

The photos are something to look at while we all wait for some ice.
