General issuesWho provides yachts for rent and what support do they provide to their customers? All yachts for rent are operated by professional management companies - charter operators. These management companies provide yacht cleaning, maintenance, insurance, and all legal and tax issues. Also, charter operators pay for yacht parking in the home marina.
If the need arises, you can contact your charter operator around the clock using VHF radio or cell phone. In the event of a technical problem, the charter operator will dispatch technicians directly to the accident / breakdown site or to the next marina along your route.
Yacht charter costThe rental prices are indicated in euros per week. In the Mediterranean region, a week starts on Saturday afternoon and ends on Saturday morning. The price depends on the type of vessel, year of manufacture and rental season. During the high season (from June to September), ships are rented exclusively for a period of at least 7 days with departures on Saturdays. If you need other lease terms and the yacht is free, you can send a request to the charter company to agree on the days you need for the acceptance and delivery of the yacht. The rental price usually includes:A yacht with all standard equipment and basic sails. BeddingAdditional mandatory costs (they are not included in the rental price, but must be paid at the port before sailing):
Fuel. Upon acceptance, yachts are provided with a full tank, so the yacht must be returned with a full tank too. Most of the marinas have special berths, filling stations, so the fuel tanks can be filled just before the delivery of the vessel. The amount of fuel you use during your yacht charter will depend entirely on the size of the boat and the amount of distance traveled on the engine. Based on experience, a 38ft sailing yacht uses less than 50 liters per week on average engine use. It is obvious that motor yachts will consume significantly more fuel.
Harbor dues at berths - the cost of marinas depends on the length of the sailing yacht and is usually between 50-100 euros per night. Some ports and most of the roadsteads are free of charge. Additional equipment / services that can be ordered:
What to take with you on the yachtFootwear. Soft shoes / moccasins. It is better to use special yacht shoes on a yacht, but in the absence of such, any with a white sole will do, since black leaves traces on the plastic, which are then very difficult to remove. The good thing about yachting shoes is that they do not slip on wet surfaces, which is especially important when the yacht is sailing on waves. Most other types of footwear, besides the footprints on the deck, also slip, which exposes you to unnecessary risk. Bring comfortable shoes for walking ashore. Consider sneakers or comfortable sports sandals. When hiking in the off-season or stormy weather, a waterproof jacket / pants or overalls will come in handy. A waterproof sailing suit for cold weather is recommended. For Mediterranean countries, a lightweight waterproof jacket will suffice. Good clothing with moisture and windproof properties will keep yachts from rain and splashes. Bring warm clothing and extra shoes. After sunset, the sea temperature can drop significantly, and in the daytime it can be quite windy, so we advise you not to neglect a sweater and a hat, even in summer. If you are going to visit a cold country, it is better to bring some sweaters and warm pants. |
